The President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, Patrick Achi, commenced a significant four-day official visit to Hà Nội on August 23, at the behest of Vietnamese National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn. This visit marks a substantial diplomatic engagement, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Côte d’Ivoire, celebrated in October 2025.
During his stay, Achi is set to engage with prominent Vietnamese leaders, including Vietnamese Party General Secretary and President Tô Lâm. Key discussions are anticipated with National Assembly President Trần Thanh Mẫn, focusing primarily on enhancing parliamentary collaboration and boosting economic and trade ties between the two nations.
This visit underscores an increasing interest from both sides in nurturing bilateral relations and exchanging legislative insights. The Vietnamese officials have highlighted that the visit is a testament to the strengthening ties and mutual interest in fostering deeper cooperation.
Significantly, this is the second instance in three years where a leader from Côte d’Ivoire’s legislative body has visited Vietnam, illustrating the growing momentum in diplomatic and legislative exchanges between the two countries.
