The strengthening of diplomatic and economic ties between Vietnam and Qatar is poised to create new opportunities for trade, investment, and collaboration across multiple sectors. The recent celebration of Vietnam’s National Day in Doha underscored this growing partnership, with a shared emphasis on peace, dialogue, and international cooperation.
The event, marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, was attended by senior Qatari officials, diplomats, and business leaders, highlighting the importance of the relationship. Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar, Nguyen Huy Hiep, emphasized Vietnam’s development progress and its expanding global connections, including with Qatar.
Diplomatic relations between Qatar and Vietnam have been in place since 1993, with a notable expansion in cooperation across various sectors such as trade, investment, energy, labor, aviation, agriculture, healthcare, hospitality, and telecommunications. This growing partnership was further evidenced by a bilateral trade figure reaching approximately $423 million in 2025, indicating a robust engagement in business and investment between the two nations.
High-level exchanges have been a key feature of this relationship, with Qatar’s Prime Minister visiting Vietnam in October 2024. These visits reflect both countries’ commitment to deepen their bilateral cooperation and explore further economic partnerships.
As Vietnam and Qatar continue to build on their diplomatic and economic foundations, the potential for enhanced collaboration is significant, promising mutual benefits and a stronger presence on the international stage for both countries.
