Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ recently visited the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie with a delegation to bolster cooperative efforts between Vietnamese localities and northeastern Cambodia. The visit focused on assessing Vietnamese business activities and the conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community residing there.

During discussions with local leaders, the parties explored avenues to expand collaboration in key sectors such as trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials underscored the strengthening connections with Vietnamese provinces, facilitated through cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and development initiatives. Kratie province particularly commended the advancements in diplomatic and socio-economic cooperation with Vietnam, reflecting on infrastructure support and joint efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who perished during wartime in Cambodia.

Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ acknowledged the positive impact of Vietnamese businesses involved in agriculture, mining, and rubber production within Cambodia. These enterprises have been instrumental in promoting local economic growth and enhancing bilateral relations. In Stung Treng, authorities highlighted the province’s promising potential for investment in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, inviting more Vietnamese companies to explore opportunities in the region.

The ambassador also engaged with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood concerns, urging adherence to local laws and advocating for education and sustainable development. The commitment to these community aspects reflects Vietnam’s broader investment strategy in Cambodia, where it has established more than 200 projects with a total registered capital of approximately $3 billion, positioning it as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors.
