Both leaders also took the opportunity to assess regional developments, particularly concerning Cambodia and Myanmar.
The dialogue between the two nations emphasized mutual interests in expanding collaboration within burgeoning industries such as alternative energy, aerospace, aviation, smart power grids, and artificial intelligence infrastructure. France reiterated its commitment to advancing the Thailand-European Union free trade agreement, aiming for its conclusion this year. This pact, initially launched in 2013 but paused in 2014, was revived in 2023, and Thai officials are optimistic about the substantial economic benefits it could bring to both countries.
In terms of security, Thailand and France vowed to bolster their defense and cybersecurity cooperation. This includes tackling cybercrime, online scams, and addressing transnational digital threats, reflecting a shared interest in maintaining a secure digital environment. Furthermore, Thailand emphasized its dedication to peacefully resolving border disputes with Cambodia, adhering to international law frameworks.
Both governments have committed to executing the Joint Action Plan to Strengthen the Thai-French Partnership spanning 2026-2028, setting the stage for a formal strategic partnership. This initiative marks a structured approach to advancing their bilateral relations over the coming years.
During his visit, Anutin engaged with executives from leading French firms such as Airbus, Imerys, EssilorLuxottica, IN Groupe, and Thales Group. These discussions aimed to foster further investment in Thailand’s high-tech and emerging industries.
