Vietnam’s Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has proposed the establishment of an elite international search and rescue team aimed at enhancing the nation’s participation in global humanitarian and disaster relief efforts. His remarks came during a ceremony celebrating Vietnam’s recent rescue mission in Venezuela, where the country was struck by twin earthquakes. The Prime Minister commended the 124-member team, comprised of military and public security personnel, for their exceptional professionalism and commitment to humanitarian service.
During the operation in Venezuela, the Vietnamese team achieved significant results, including the recovery of 57 victims and the delivery of 5.6 tonnes of relief supplies. They also provided medical care to over 130 local residents and offered financial aid to the affected communities. Such efforts underscored the team’s dedication and capability in handling complex and challenging situations.
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng emphasized the need to bolster the country’s rescue capabilities, urging authorities to invest in modern equipment and specialized training. He advocated for improved coordination and the strengthening of international partnerships to ensure swift and efficient responses to future crises. Additionally, he stressed the importance of recognizing and supporting personnel who participate in humanitarian missions abroad.
The contributions of Vietnam’s rescue delegation did not go unnoticed, as they were awarded the Hero of Venezuela Medal.
