Việt Nam Urges Enhanced ASEAN+3 Collaboration for Digital Innovation and Growth

During the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila, Việt Nam has advocated for enhanced economic integration and regional resilience. Foreign Minister Lê Hoài Trung called on ASEAN members, along with China, Japan, and South Korea, to intensify their collaboration in areas such as trade, connectivity, and sustainable development. He highlighted the necessity of effectively implementing regional trade agreements and broadening cooperation in critical sectors including energy security, food security, digital transformation, innovation, and clean energy.

Minister Lê Hoài Trung proposed the exploration of regional energy cooperation mechanisms as a means to bolster resilience against future economic and geopolitical challenges. Such initiatives are seen as pivotal in adapting to and overcoming potential disruptions in the region’s economic landscape.

The meeting underscored the significance of ASEAN+3 as a central platform for regional cooperation. Member countries collectively agreed to expedite the ASEAN+3 Work Plan for 2023–2027. This plan includes commitments to strengthen financial cooperation, expand regional food reserves, and advance renewable energy projects. Additionally, there was a shared resolve to increase investment in education, technology, tourism, and cultural exchanges, reflecting a comprehensive approach to regional development.

China, Japan, and South Korea reaffirmed their support for ASEAN’s central role in regional affairs, promising ongoing assistance in promoting the ASEAN Community Vision 2045. This support underscores the collaborative spirit of the ASEAN+3 framework, aiming to foster a more integrated and resilient regional community.
